Oh. Oh. The Minotaur Books spring/summer 2010 catalog is out. “Crashers” is in it. Which means it’s really, really real.
My novel didn’t get one page in the catalog. It didn’t get two.
It got three.
The catalog is separated by months, May through August. “Crashers” is on the page that launches June.
I showed my fellow, hopeful-screenwriter friend, James Hill. (Note: Someday you will buy overpriced popcorn to see one of his sweet, romantic films. I got good money says so.) We were pouring over the pages lovingly. Under the heading “Marketing,” James said, “Dude, you’re getting an ‘IndieBound Campaign.’ What’s that mean?”
I said, “I have no freaking idea.”
He nodded. “Cool.”
OK, Stupid-Boy has since looked it up. IndieBound is a coalition of independent bookstores. That includes Annie Bloom’s Books, 7834 S.W. Capitol Highway. That’s the bookstore in my neighborhood, where, this year, I bought all of my Christmas presents.
(Almost all. I have a hot girlfriend who is way out of my league. I bought her gift at Kate Spade. It sparkles. Sue me.)
