Escape to the City of Angels
Shh. Hear that? That sound is the crews fueling the jets that will be heading to the City of Angels in a little more than 10 days for Left Coast Crime. It’s March 11 to 14 at the Omni Hotel in Los Angeles.
Guests of honor include author Lee Child, who’s annoyingly tall and good-looking. (I thought we had all agreed to be nerdish and introverted when we joined the Novelist Guild?) He’s the author of the Jack Reacher series, plus a gifted short-story writer.
Jan Burke will be honored. She writes the Irene Kelly series. She also is the founder of the Crime Lab Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of public forensic science. Which means she’ll read Crashers and howl in dismay at some of the liberties I take with my pathologist-hero.
Also, columnist and editor Janet Rudolph, who knows a thing or two about mystery novels, will be on hand.
Many others will be honored as well. This’ll be my first Left Coast Crime. Can’t wait.
Ten days, eight hours and, um, 58 minutes away. Not that I’m counting.
