Librarians rule

OK, this is a total cliché, but when I think of librarians, the image I always get is that of Rupert Giles, the librarian/watcher from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” as portrayed by actor Anthony Head. When he wasn’t cleaning his reading glasses and wearing sweater vests, he was kicking ass and saving lives. He was the best example of the nerd-hero in popular culture. Love Giles.

Got a lovely little brief at the Web site that Macmillan Publishing maintains for librarians. It’s under “This Just In.” It’s about the Public Library Association’s convention in Portland, for which we Portlanders are incredibly excited. I’m doing a signing at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 26, in the Oregon Convention Center. Cheers, then.
