Entertainment Strongly

So rumor has it that a mini-review of “Crashers” appears in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. A friend at Portland Community College saw it first. Katy King confirmed it yesterday. It’s apparently the issue with Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover, though I haven’t seen it yet.

How cool!

Oh Canada!

The Province, a Vancouver, British Columbia, newspaper, did a really nice spread on my book. Two minor problems.

A)   I don’t think they have permission to reprint my first chapter.

B)   That’s not how we spell “Haynes.”

But hey. Beyond that, the piece is golden!

On a brighter note, I did “Citizens Read” at the City Club of Portland last night at the Gerding Theater in The Pearl. Wow! What a great group. Good, solid questions, terrific insights. I stand impressed by this book club. Thanks, folks!

Shakers and Movers and Crashers. Oh my!

Incredibly honored to appear at Citizens Read, the book club of the City Club of Portland, 6 to 7:30 p.m. today in the Gerding Theater at the Armory, 128 N.W. 11th Ave., in the Pearl District. Citizens Read usually focuses on more serious literature than my book, but what the heck.

What a great Murder!

GREAT event last night at Murder By The Book! Wow. What a smart, well-read crowd. Lots of friends. (Dan and I sweated it out at…how many newsrooms? I lose count. He’s a yeoman journalist. Christy and I did “Seven Days” on OPB a couple hundred times. Am I dating myself? Yeah, whatever.)

Murder is one of Portland’s absolutely great bookstores. Hat’s off to them. Thank you guys so much.

Murder By the Book!

So looking forward to signing at Murder By the Book today, 7 p.m. It’s at 3210 S.E. Hawthorne.

It’s one of Portland’s great independent bookstores. I’m honored that they’re hosting this event. And it’ll be a lovely evening for walking around Hawthorne! See you there.
