I’m a friend of the Friends

Next week is a biggie for me. I am the guest of Friends of Mystery, where I am to receive the 2011 Spotted Owl Award for “Crashers.” The Spotted Owl is given each year for outstanding mystery or thriller by a Northwest author.

This is a huge honor since the nominee list this year truly was spectacular.

The award will be presented at the Friends of Mystery meeting, 7 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at Terwilliger Plaza, 2545 S.W. Terwilliger Blvd., Portland. The event includes a reception and the Friends’ annual Book Sale at 7 p.m., with the program will start at 7:30 pm. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Free parking is available in the Terwilliger Plaza employee lots across Sixth Avenue from the lower level entrance, and on Sheridan Street. Handicapped parking is available at the upper level entrance. The venue is served by TriMet bus No. 8 Jackson Park.

Hope to see you there.
