New York, batten down the hatches

Getting ready for Thrillerfest in New York City, the biggest hurdle, of course, was the shoes.

Katy picked out seven pair. She picked the best from her gladiator flats, wedges, stilettos, platforms, strappy lace-ups, espadrilles and boots.

Some women’s shoes range from sensible to a bit flirtatious. Katy’s range from “Go with God, my son.” to “This is the access code to my off-shore account.”

We decided she could take four of the seven. We tried this combination. That combination. We paired them with outfits. We consulted the weather stations the way the Navy checks for storm fronts.

Then we checked the excess room in my bag.

Yeah. All seven.

Gonna be a good trip.
