A classic!

Best mystery I have read this calendar year was written in 1931! Philip MacDonald’s “The Crime Conductor.” MacDonald wrote in a light, effervescent style, perfectly willing to use quips, quotes and wordplay to keep his audience entertained.

The novel features many of the same characters, including Col. Anthony Gethryn, who star in the 1959 novel, “The List of Adrian Messenger,” which I list as my all-time-favorite whodunit.

What’s the best mystery you read this year.

(A note that I’m now writing on my new Facebook fan page. Check it out.)
