King Strikes Gold

Reading Stephen King’s 11/22/63.

King has frustrated me in the last decade or so. The author of such wonderful works as THE STAND, THE SHINING and THE DEAD ZONE wrote an endless series of novels in the 21st century that I couldn’t finish. It’s as if he got too big, too popular to edit.

But 11/22/63 — despite the dreadful, difficult-to-memorize title — is a terrific read. At least so far. I can see why so many reviewers and friends have raved that “King is back.”

Has anyone else read it? Thoughts? Also, does anyone want to defend Mr. King’s opera omni of the last decade or so? I’m willing to entertain the notion that I’m dead wrong about this guy.
