A Dash(iell) of Class

I had one of those weekends in which I could not find a new novel to read. I bought a couple and they didn’t catch my attention. I downloaded two more to my e-reader but … yawn. MalteseFalcon1930

So I picked up “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett (1930). I’ve read this book maybe three or four other times. I’ve seen the Humphrey Bogart movie too many times to count. I know which scenes are coming up. I’ve memorized the dialogue.

And I still loved it.

Great story. Great structure. Great characters. Insanely perfect dialogue.

I love finding new writers and new mysteries. But every now and then, you just gotta go back to the classics.
