This is what happens when your sense of humor gets frostbite

I admit, I was a little worried about ICE COLD KILL. My protagonist is Israeli. Some of the bad guys are Israeli. I’m an Irish American. I wondered if I was going to get any flack regarding my portrayal of so many Israeli characters.

Then, today, I get this email: “In your book, you have one of the G8 countries as Spain, which is incorrect, and are missing Canada. As a Canadian I find that error offensive. You should really do some research when you write a book so that you do not appear to be ignorant.”

All that worrying, and it turns out I offended a Canadian.

I would feel bad but, to be honest, the one Canadian I offended isn’t the one I care about: My mom. Plus, this is the single funniest “fan” mail I’ve received in ages. So I guess I’m OK being outed as a Canadophobe.
